In Autumn 2021, OrchLab worked with groups from Flying Angel (Look Ahead Care Support & Housing) and Chipstead Lake (Leonard Cheshire) on a project inspired by Swan Lake, a ballet by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky. It was so brilliant to be back making music with these groups in person, as prior to this project we had spent the majority of our time together on Zoom!
Tchaikovsky (1840–1893) is one of the most popular Russian composer in history. He is probably most celebrated for his ballets, for example Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker.
In our OrchLab project, we were inspired by different dances in Swan Lake including a Waltz, Dance of the Little Swans, and a Tragic Tune. We even created our own ‘cup dance’ inspired by The Dance of the Goblets.
We hope you enjoy the short film we produced of our own Swan Lake celebration.
